Bodies in Urban Spaces
“We are used to moving quickly from A to B, barely noticing the architectural environment we traverse. I think we underestimate the enormous changes that cities are undergoing” –Willi Dorner.
Squeezing brightly clothed people into nooks and crannies, artist Willi Dorner plays with our perceptions of space. What was once a gap between two buildings now houses toylike bodies, an alcove becomes home to coloured patterns and shapes, and a doorway is transformed in a game of sardines like no other.
Vienna-based Cie. Willi Dorner was founded by Willi Dorner in 1999. The company tours dance performances, and Dorner’s interdisciplinary works are developed in cooperation with artists and scientists of different fields. His work has been co-produced by festivals and venues across Europe and the United States.
