Tut
Tut is the new project from acclaimed contemporary dance outfit, Shaun Parker & Company. It’s a project that celebrates the amazing skills of the recently rediscovered dance tutting, with a performance created for, by, and starring the people of Sydney. Join us at the free performances in April, or apply now to perform in Tut.
Tutting, for the uninitiated, is a mind-blowing new dance craze featuring highly intricate and rhythmic patterns of the hands, fingers and arms, which was inspired by the hieroglyphics drawn on the Ancient pyramids of King Tut. Emerging from the underground dance scene alongside vogueing, tutting’s revival has come about thanks to an explosion of online videos.
WE WANT TO GET YOU INVOLVED! We are on the hunt for 100 dancers to perform their best Tut, live as part of Art & About. Whether you’re solo, a duo or a group, we want to see your best moves, with selected dancers working with Shaun Parker to refine their Tut before performing in front of a live audience in Pitt Street Mall and Chinatown. Apply now at www.shaunparkercompany.com/tut
Tut keeps it up close and personal for the on-street audience so they can enjoy the intricate details of the dance, while also being projected in real time on to industrial screens for the entire city to marvel at.
